Your root chakra is also known as your base chakra. The chakra is the same, just some use one name over the other.
It is red in colour and is located at your perineum.
Your root chakra faces downwards, rooting your energy into the ground ensuring you feel safe, secure, stable and connected to the earth.
When you are aware of the chakras and their meanings as well as relations to your mind, body and soul you can learn how to maintain your health and wellness, and recognise potential sources of symptoms when they arise.
As your survival centre this chakra relates to your most primal instincts and needs such as safety, stability, security as well as having enough food to eat, sleep to be rested, home to keep you safe and financial security.
Fearfulness is the plague of the root chakra – so if you often feel fearful, be aware you may be lacking a balance of root chakra energy.
This is your chakra you turn to when you need grounding, to be feel secure, safe and all is well in life.
Mental
With strong root chakra energy, you will feel assertive, self-confident, have a zest and lust for life.
With a lack of root chakra energy you may feel like there is never enough of things (money, food, opportunities etc); have a tendency towards eating disorders; have strong feelings on anger, aggressiveness, feeling stuck or confused.
Physical
When it comes to your physical existence, your root chakra is related to everything hip downwards – your hips, bum, thighs, calves, feet, blood, spine and circulation. When there are any issues with these areas of your body, the issue causing the symptoms to arise in these physical areas is a root chakra one.
Emotional
If there is an imbalance of root chakra energy (as previously explained, there needs to be a flow of energy to maintain health and wellness) then you may experience feelings of insecurity, vulnerability, lack of enthusiasm for life, an inability to be a part of life, aggressiveness, anger, restlessness or mood swings.
You can rebalance your root chakra with crystals placed around the area, promoting a flow of energy back to your root chakra.
Spiritual
There may be a lack of ability to connect to the spiritual realm and believe in anything bigger than yourself, instead focusing on material things or critical of things bigger than yourself (belief in the power of the universe, God, source energy – whatever your belief system).
On the flip side, you may also come across as too “airy fairy” – as if you cannot connect to the present moment. This is when there is a lack of root chakra energy in your system.
Crystals and your root chakra
You can do many things to boost the energy to your root chakra.
Using crystals is one way to do this.
When focusing on chakras, you can place the crystals on those areas of your body where the chakra is found. This will enable the energy to be balanced, when done regularly.
To get started, these crystals are great to work with your root chakra:
1. Red Jasper
2. Black Obsidian
3. Black Tourmaline
4. Pyrite
Placing these crystals on your root chakra will promote a healthy flow of energy – releasing any stuck energy and boosting energy when needed.
